Here’s how much money a lifetime of smoking costs

(Meredith) – WalletHub recently released the results of their latest study, which detail the amount of money the average smoker will spend in their lifetime.

In the study, they broke up the costs in each state by the following factors:

  • Out-of-Pocket Costs
  • Financial Opportunity Costs
  • Health Care Cost per Smoker
  • Income Loss per Smoker
  • Other Costs

According to the study, the average smoker in Kentucky will spend about $1.1 million in their lifetime. Compare that to the $2.3 million New York smokers will spend on tobacco products.
