SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A Scottsdale intersection was closed after a deadly crash involving a pedestrian early Thursday morning.

According to Scottsdale police, the crash happened at around 1:30 a.m. near Camelback Road and 78th Street. Officers said a pick up truck driving westbound hit a male pedestrian in a lane of traffic.

The driver stayed on scene and police said neither speed nor impairment appears to be factors in this crash. Scottsdale PD said the driver was a driver for Uber.

The area was closed for about 5 hours but has since reopened.

Uber has not yet issued an official statement.

But an Uber spokesperson tells us that the driver has been removed from the app while the accident is being investigated and that Uber is ready to work with police.
