A Pennsylvania man is being charged with homicide and endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly punched his 4-month-old daughter until she stopped crying, WPXI reports. According to the criminal complaint, 30-year-old Joseph Gazzam was home alone when the child became fussy. He became angry and punched the child several times in the back and stomach.
Gazzam then called 911 when the child stopped breathing, and she later died at the hospital. The autopsy confirmed the child died from blunt force trauma. WTAE reports her injuries included:
Fractured left humerus
Lacerated heart vessel
Lacerated left kidney
Multiple contusions to the back and head
Hemorrhage behind the eyes
3 posterior ribs fractured
Gazzam has been charged with homicide, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child.
He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
