The bottle, which was priced at $300,000, had Sandro Bernasconi, of The Waldhuase Hotel, a bit skeptical so he called investigators to examine the bottle. They sent the bottle away to be tested at Oxford University.
According to Fox News, the tests revealed the whiskey wasn’t created in 1878. It was created in 1970, a hundred years younger than it claimed to be. The whiskey is thought to be a blended Scotch, made of about 60 percent malt and 40 percent grain.
Experts said a few other pieces of evidence gave it away, like that fact that it was made from modern glass and the cork “looked too new.”
