(Meredith) -- Chip Gaines had to put his foot down when it came to selecting the photo for the cover of his new book, Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff.

Others involved in the project split their votes between two photos, both from a professional photography session. His choice? A photo shot by a buddy of his while they drove to that photo shoot.
