Dr. Kevin Leman releases new book: "Education a La Carte"

Every parent wants the best possible education for their child, but one choice doesn't fit all. Parenting expert and longtime educator Dr. Kevin Leman takes the guesswork out of choosing the best schooling for your child in his new book, "Education a La Carte," and explores the pros and cons of public schools, private, charter schools, homeschooling and even online schooling.

What to Look for in a Quality Education
1.    It has a warm, safe setting with faculty and staff who care individually about student welfare.

2.    It has challenging academics with real-life application.

3.    It covers well the four basics (math, science, history, English) but allows for exploration of talents.

4.    It provides a healthy balance of respect, responsibility, accountability, and discipline.

5.    It allows for differences in learning styles, personalities, and gifts.

6.    It employs teachers who are qualified, certified, and cutting-edge in their field.

7.    It's a place where a love for learning is obvious and encouragement reigns.

8.    It's a classroom where uniqueness and diversity are encouraged and applauded.

9.    It's a school where parental participation and partnership are welcomed.

10.   It's a fun, interactive environment so the child loves being there!
