The Johnston Farm started in 1950 in the town of Gilbert. A family farm that produced cotton, wheat, citrus and other products. The farm over the years has changed.

"The farm grill was our house. The coffee shop was our tractor shed," said Joe Johnston, owner of Barnone.

The farmhouse is now the family's company offices.

"The barn was built in 1950 out of melted down airplanes from World War II," said Johnston.

The barn was originally filled with the grain from the farm. Since then it has had various uses and now is an artisan’s wonderland.

There are eight different businesses. It starts with Johnston Machinery.

"We machine items for the culinary trade," said Johnston.

Next door is Johnston Arms, his brother Steve’s sportsman's shop. Across from there is Prickly Pear Letterpress, his nephew's shop. That is next door to LetterCraft.

"They actually do woodworking focus on hardwood burning and also laser cutting," said Johnston.

There are also a hair salon and flower shop. And if you're hungry.

"The Uprooted Kitchen they do plant-based food," said Johnston.

Down the hall are Fire and Brimstone Pizza and 12 West Brewing, and of course, they also have a winery.

"Garage-east, they are taking the pioneering spirit of Arizona into the winemaking category," said Johnston.

The key to the success of Barnone.

"They want to create things and build things of quality that they are passionate about and allow people to watch them do it," said Johnston.

And teach, the artists host weekly events.

"If you look at the Barnone website there are a ton of them," said Johnston.
