Motorcycle passenger dies after crash in north Phoenix

A motorcycle passenger has died after a crash involving a car, which prompted the closure of an intersection Thursday evening in north Phoenix, police said.

The collision was reported around 5 p.m. near 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The passenger of the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

The intersection at 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive was temporarily closed following the crash. Around 9:30 p.m., Phoenix police said the intersection would soon reopen.

No additional information was immediately available.
