PHOENIX (AP) -

Drivers who normally would use Pecos Road to access the Interstate 10 (Maricopa Freeway)/Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) interchange in the East Valley should consider using Chandler Boulevard as an alternative route this weekend.

Pecos Road between I-10 (Maricopa Freeway) and 24th Street will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, while the Arizona Department of Transportation and Connect 202 Partners, the developer for the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, excavate trenches for drainage pipes and relocate utilities for the 22-mile-long freeway.

The I-10 on- and off-ramps at Pecos Road will be closed in both directions.

Access to Pecos Storage will be maintained from 32nd Street during this work.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
