MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Mesa Police Department is still searching for a potential murder suspect who shot and killed a father of three last year.

On June 26, 2016, officers responded to the area of Main Street and Alma School Road for a welfare check.

On arrival, they found Joshua Aguilera, a father of three, face down with a gunshot wound.

Mesa police said homicide detectives began working the case immediately but found few leads.

Witnesses told police shortly after gunshots were heard, they saw two Hispanic males in their 30s leaving the area.

One of the males was described as 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 200 pounds, with long, dark hair in a ponytail.

Mesa police recently released a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes that someone might recognize him or know who may have wanted to harm Aguilera.
