PHOENIX (AP) -

Authorities say a Litchfield Park man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his wife two years ago.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials announced Tuesday that 53-year-old Elias Udechime is jailed on a $500,000 bond on suspicion of second-degree murder.

It's unclear Wednesday if he has an attorney yet.

Sheriff's officials say Udechime called authorities in the early morning hours of Sept. 24, 2015 to say he found his 39-year-old wife Chinonye in bed and not breathing and cold to the touch.

He also told sheriff's investigators his wife had taken medicine the night before and made suicidal thoughts.

The county medical examiner ruled Chinonye Udechime's death was a homicide in June 2016.

Details on how the woman died weren't immediately available Wednesday.
