AHWATUKEE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A 14-year-old boy was struck while riding his bike by a red-light runner in Ahwatukee, according to Phoenix police Sgt. Jonathan Howard.

The boy was riding his bike in the crosswalk Sunday night around 8:20 p.m. near Ray Road and South Mountain Parkway.

He was struck by a silver Nissan Sentra that was heading westbound and ran a red light.

The suspect vehicle failed to stop and continued westbound.

The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The four-door Sentra sustained front-end damage on the front-right bumper and the entire windshield was smashed in.
