TEMPE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

With word of star running back David Johnson probably needing wrist surgery, the Cardinals appear to be turning to a familiar face for help at running back.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweets that the Cardinals have signed former Sun Devils star D.J. Foster off the Patroits practice squad.

Foster was active for three games with the Patriots a season ago and won a Super Bowl ring.  He rushed for 92 yards on 30 carries and touchdown in the preseason for the Patriots.

Foster lead in the nation in receiving yards by a running back in 2013, leading the Sun Devils to the Pac 12 Championship game.  He moved to receiver for his senior season and was signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent.
