PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Although Hurricane Irma's path of destruction is not over yet, people are already stepping up to help.

One such example is Valley pilot Matt Widdows, who plans to fly towards Florida on Monday with fellow pilot Marty Ciccarelli, bringing much needed supplies.

"It gives me the opportunity to fly, which I love to do, obviously," Widdows says, "And it gives me a chance to give back at the same time, so it's just a great combination."

Widdows says they will most likely land in New Orleans later in the day on Monday and continue on to Florida Monday night or Tuesday morning. They will most likely be based out of Fort Lauderdale, but it all depends on where the fuel ends up.

Their main concern, aside from the weather, is the lack of fuel. If they run out, they risk stranding themselves as well.

Among their supplies are water, baby supplies, and a full tank of fuel. Widdows says they will also be working to evacuate people from the Caribbean.
