PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A motorcyclist was killed following a crash on westbound 202 near the Interstate 10 ramp early Sunday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

According to DPS, a Glendale man in his 30s, lost control of his motorcycle just before 2:30 a.m.

That's when the motorcyclist crashed while traveling westbound along the Loop 202 within the two-lane transition ramp to westbound I-10.

Authorities say the motorcyclist was struck by at least one vehicle after he fell onto the roadway during the initial crash.

According to DPS, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the collision, whether more than one vehicle struck the motorcycle after the initial crash and if impairment was a factor.

The area was closed for hours but has since been reopened.
