PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A happy update! Family members say a young girl who went missing with her dog has been found safe.

Valerie Cockrill, 12, was found in the area of 26th Avenue and Georgia.

She is not injured and was found by witnesses who saw her information on the news.

Police say her dog is OK, too.

Valerie vanished Friday night as she went out to walk the dog. Police say she left her home near 23rd Avenue and Bethany Home road at around 7 p.m.

"My little sister left the house with the dog to go for a walk and never came back and hasn't been seen since," said Valerie's sister, Aubrey Barrios. "Did not have a cell phone of money with her. And we don't have any leads at this point."

Family members, friends and neighbors joined in the search effort, handing out flyers Saturday with Valerie's photo.
