FORT HUACHUCA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A bear was euthanized in Fort Huachuca Wednesday afternoon after authorities attempted to coax it out of a tree in a neighborhood.

According to U.S. Army Fort Huachuca's Facebook page, the bear had previously been tagged because of issues with it in the area earlier this year.

The bear was spotted in a tree in the area of Bernard and Irwin streets around 1 p.m. Law enforcement closed the area while wildlife officials attempted to get it down.

Residents of the area were asked to remain inside until it was deemed safe. The bear was finally euthanized and officials reopened the area later that afternoon.
