SELIGMAN, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

When driving in rough conditions, a 42-year-old man ran off the road and through a barbed wire fence in a motorcycle with a shelled body west of Seligman on Tuesday.

The man was traveling on Route 66 in heavy rain when his three-wheeled motorcycle hydroplaned, lost traction and went off the road out of his control.

The 2007 Suzuki ZR8 continued across a field and through a barbed wire fence.

A barb wire strand caught the man around his neck, leaving a large laceration.

He was able to call 911 for help and alert his brother who was riding well ahead but was unable to witness the incident.

A helicopter crew stabilized the man and flew him to Flagstaff Medical Center.

The injuries appear non-life threatening at this time.
