Police in Prescott say they've recovered skeletal remains that appear to be very old after a citizen spotted a partially unearthed human skull over the weekend.

Police say in a news release that they worked for two days to dig out the full set of human remains after they were discovered on Sunday. Police investigators and crime scene technicians worked together and have since turned the remains over to the Yavapai County Medical Examiner's Office.

The remains were found in an undeveloped area in the northern part of the city. The department says it has found no unsolved homicides or missing person cases that fit the circumstances of the discovery.

The medical examiner plans to call in a forensic pathologist to examine the remains.

If anyone has information regarding this case, the Prescott Police Department asks that you contact Detective Mike Kinsey at 928-777-1924.
