Hiker dies on trail in far north Valley

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Emergency crews are working to recover a body of a man on a trail in far north Phoenix.

They were called out to the area near 40th Street and Lone Mountain Road around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Capt. Reda Bigler with the Phoenix Fire Department, a hiker found a 60-year-old man on the trail and it was confirmed that he had died.

It's unclear how long he had been on the trail.

Police said there were no signs of criminal activity or suicide. It appears it was a medical issue.

Sonoran Mountain Road is closed in both directions while emergency teams recover the body.

An investigation is underway.
