TEMPE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A group of young men broke into a house in Tempe and one of them was armed with a gun last Friday. And the incident was caught on camera.

A small home surveillance camera was recording when the four men kicked in the front door around 10 a.m. The frontman clearly pulled out a gun and shouted for anybody inside to get on the ground.

"I'm very very angry," said David Hodgson, who lives at the house with his wife. "You see the video. It's very scary. Those guys come in guns draw. What was their plan? Just shoot whoever is in there?"

Hodgson and his wife were at work at the time.

But their house was ransacked. The burglars noticed the surveillance camera and stole it but not before the dramatic video was captured.

"We lost most of our electronics, TVs, a bunch of tablets and a whole lot of jewelry, family heirloom stuff, pretty irreplaceable," Hodgson said.

He posted the video on social media, where he said it's been viewed more than 200,000 times. Hodgson hopes it will lead to the tip that puts the crooks behind bars.

"I want to see these guys get caught and punished as hard as humanly possible and that would make me feel pretty good," Hodgson said.

The Tempe Police Department is investigating.
