PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

After a possible sighting in Goodyear, California investigators believe kidnapping suspect Joseph Hetzel and kidnapping victim Virginia Paris are possibly headed to the Las Vegas area.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, they checked out of the Grand Canyon Inn in Valle, AZ at 7:30 a.m. Monday.

SBCSO released two still frames from surveillance video that shows them checking out.

"Information gathered at that time, indicates that Paris continues to be held against her will and that the two were possibly on their way to Las Vegas, Nevada," according to an updated news release from SBCSO. "They are still believed to be driving in Paris’ black 2015 Chrysler 200 with a CA License number of 7NGE514."

Valle is a little more than a four-hours drive from Las Vegas via Interstate 40 and U.S. 93, according to Google Maps.

Hetzel and Paris were spotted Sunday morning at a Starbucks at McDowell and Litchfield roads in Goodyear.

Paris ordered a coffee drink and gave the name Virginia. She then went to the bathroom and when she came out, she told a customer she needed help, SBCSO said.

Hetzel apparently saw this so he grabbed her and dragged her out of the shop, investigators said. He then allegedly kicked her into the car and sped off.

Deputies said she then threw the car registration out of the door and Goodyear police officers recovered it.

Paris is described as a white woman, 5'6", 150 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a light colored shirt.

Hetzel is described as a white man, 6'2", 195 lbs. with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue colored shirt.

SBCSO said Paris filed for a restraining order which was granted but had yet to be served.

Deputies also said Hetzel has served time in prison for possession of items used to make explosive devices, using explosive devices with the intent to terrorize, felony vandalism and criminal threats.
