GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The ice went down at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Sunday morning to prepare for the Arizona Coyotes' upcoming season. Every year the ice gets reinstalled just ahead of the season.

The process starts about two days before the ice is actually laid down by slowly lowering the ground temperature to 12 degrees.

The ice is installed and then painted white and the final touch will be the lines and the Coyotes' logo.

"There's a lot that goes into it, it's more than just what's happened over the last 48 hours," said Sean Langer, Director of Operations at Gila River Arena.

The work actually starts in June to get everything ready for the fall season.

"We actually started in June. We did several upgrades to the ice plant along with the regular preventative maintenance and all the things that we needed to do...and everything comes together at this very moment," Langer said.

The Coyotes' pre-season game is Sept 18 and the opening game day is Oct. 7.
