GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A homeless woman was arrested Thursday in connection to a fire from early August at an apartment complex in Glendale.

According to Glendale police, the fire was started on Aug. 3 just before 7 p.m. at an apartment complex near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road

Police said the unit where the fire started was vacant and three nearby units were occupied. The residents of the three other units were displaced by the fire and one of the units was a total loss.

According to court records, the loss amounted to $350,000 in damage.

Glendale PD said the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Mary Duoth, was seen exiting the vacant unit.

Security at the apartment complex confronted the suspect and asked what she did. The security guards said Duoth told them it was a small fire.

The suspect then left the scene. Police said the security patrol knew Duoth and that she has been trespassed from the complex multiple times.

Security patrol was later shown a photo lineup and positively identified Duoth as the person they had confronted leaving the vacant apartment where the fire started.

On Thursday, police saw Duoth walking near the complex and she was taken into custody. Officers asked her about the fire and she blamed someone else but she did admit that she had been trespassed from the complex.

Upon arresting Duoth, officers found a meth pipe in her possession.

Duoth was booked on one count of arson of an occupied structure and one count of drug paraphernalia possession.
