2 robbery suspects apprehended in Phoenix

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Two robbery suspects are in custody Thursday afternoon, according to Phoenix police. The suspects are identified as 27-year-old Anthony T. Copeland and 27-year-old Jenessa Mathis. 

Phoenix police said the robbery happened just before 3:30 p.m. near 48th Street and McDowell Road.

Witnesses reported that the victims were pursuing the robbery suspects, police said.

Officers then received the suspects' location and located their vehicle with the help of Scottsdale police.

The suspects proceeded to flee from their vehicle near 66th Street and Monte Vista Road, police said.

Phoenix police established a perimeter and the suspects were located by police K9 units.

Copeland and Mathis were booked for armed robbery and kidnapping charges. Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
