Back-to-School: Kid-tested & mother-approved healthy lunches

It's back to school time which means we need more healthy lunches and snacks for the kids. Mom and co-owner of The Orchard Phoenix, Lucia Schnitzer, along with her daughter, Aviva, demonstrate a few simple dishes that are kid-tested and mother-approved.

Apple Sandwiches with PB and Granola
(makes two)
One apple (red or green)
4 tbsp. Creamy Peanut Butter
2 tbsp. Granola
1 lemon
An apple corer

Wash your apple. Take your apple corer and push it in the apple until the core is out. Carefully slice apple width to make four slices. The slices should look similar to a donut since there will be a hole where the core is missing. Cut your lemon in wedges and squeeze some lemon juice on the outside of the apple to keep it from browning throughout the day. Spread 2 tbsp. of peanut butter on one apple slice and top with 1 tbsp. of granola. Top sandwich with second apple slice so the apples act as the "bread" of the sandwich. Repeat again for the second apple sandwich. Serve with a side of fruit or pretzels.

School assembly teaches students to "Be Kind"

It may not be part of the regular curriculum but thanks to the Be Kind Project Arizona school kids learn how to develop healthy relationships and build character. Since 2011, Be Kind People has used a positive approach to social, emotional, and academic learning, all through hip hop.

Here are somethings to know about The Be Kind People Project and our assemblies:
- The Be Kind People Project is a non-profit dedicated to providing students with comprehensive youth development programming that effectively uses a positive approach to social, emotional, and academic learning. Established in 2011
- Do Kind Assemblies bring the Be Kind Pledge to life through hip hop music, spoken word, and dance to teach kids why it's COOL to BE KIND! Assemblies are led by the BE KIND CREW the face of our brand. This crew is a diverse group of professional dancers from all walks of life dedicated to spreading kindness to students and teachers.
- The two reason we go to schools is to thank and honor teachers and to talk about kindness through the Be Kind Pledge.
- We thank teachers and equip their students with character development tools to help build positive and healthy relationships.    The overall education environment in America's schools can improve with our innovative approach to social and emotional learning.

Dow Jones hits 5th straight record high, but does it really matter?

The Dow registered yet another record high yesterday, and the Nasdaq closed in the green as well. But does this stellar show really have much of an impact on the economy?

The Dow registered yet another record high on Tuesday, stopping just short of attaining the psychological milestone of 22,000. This was its 31st record close that the blue-chip index breached this year.

The stellar show can be attributed to splendid earnings from Goldman Sachs and 3M. The S&P 500 also finished in the green after shares of JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs rallied.

The Nasdaq closed in the green as well due to an increase in the shares of Intel and positive earnings expectations from Apple which is due to report on Tuesday. All the gains have been earnings driven and it has been a great earnings season all around till now.
