Think balancing beer cans on your head, or attempting to take a drink while holding different poses. We check out this new type of class, as it's all a part of a Summer Beer Camp, for adults only.

Beer Yoga will be happening Saturday, Aug. 5 at 9 a.m.
Beer Yoga costs $10 for a one-hour class.
Call us at (602) 313-8713 or stop by Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen to get your tickets.

Summer Splash: Backyard pool features award-winning water wall

As we dip our toes into some of the most luxurious backyard swimming pools, our Summer Splash series takes us to Chandler where one family enjoys an award-winning design complete with a lazy river, a water wall and a lounging island. We'll introduce you to the great minds behind this masterpiece which uses water, fire and hanging decks all coordinated within a contemporary setting.

This huge contemporary pool features many unique design elements. A 100 ft. long lazy river encircles the lounging island. The island itself has multiple fire features and seating areas as well as an all-glass tile spa. Expansive Limestone decks tie the island into the surrounding hardscape. The back of the scene is dominated by two 37 ft. long x 12 ft. high canted water walls and a massive stone waterfall/grotto structure with a 60ft tube slide built in. The water walls feature custom cantilevered hanging decks.

Summer Splash: Tres Rios Wetlands

Did you know Phoenix is home to a wetland habitat full of birds and wildlife? We check out this lush area near 91st Ave South of Broadway, to do some bird-watching and hiking. It's the perfect summer escape as we splash into summer surrounding ourselves with everything water.

  • The lush and scenic Tres Rios is now home to more than 150 different species of birds and animals like muskrats, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, bobcats, and beavers.
  • The beautiful cottonwood groves, willows, mesquites, and other desert shrub around the reed-lined ponds and along the trail attract many migratory and wintering songbirds.
  • The reclaimed water from the wastewater treatment plant is pumped over to the wetlands, and the plants and animals take what they need before it is discharged back into the river.
  • 290 acres of flow regulating wetlands help treat (polish) the water, provide habitat, and regulate discharge to the Salt River.
  • Project was a partnership between the US Army Corps of Engineers and city of Phoenix

For more information, visit: https://www.phoenix.gov/waterservices/tresrios

Access Permits:

  • Permits allow access to the overbank area (the area that is not part of the wastewater treatment process), which is open to the public for hiking, fishing, birdwatching, and non-motorized recreation vehicles (bikes).
  • Guests can get free access permits prior to visiting the project by calling (602) 495-7477 or emailing heather.finden@phoenix.gov.
  • Permits are valid for three months and allow for unlimited visits between sunrise and sunset, 365 days per year.
