Mesa boy with rare terminal disease asks for birthday cards

Jacob Priestly is a 14-year-old autistic boy who is living with a rare terminal mitochondrial disease. This disease has caused 98% of his body's mitochondria to die, resulting in a massive decline in his body's energy. Due to his condition, Jacob is easily exhausted and isn't able to make friends. His parents say last year's 20,000 birthday cards kept him going - and this year he's hoping to get 100,000 cards.

Enjoy "digital detox" at Camp Unpluggd

It's summer camp for adults! We're relinquishing our devices, but just for this segment, as we learn how more and more people are joining summer camps to force them to unplug. They're putting down their phones, tablets, and pretty much every and all devices, to enjoy the great outdoors, games, activities like archery, arts and crafts and more. It's called "Camp Unpluggd," a first for Arizona, with the first camp beginning Aug. 24th.

Camp Unplugg'd. It is an environment where you are free to be yourself, and there is no judgment based on what you do, whom you know, or how you can advance your career because there is no work talk allowed. We take a weekend to pursue our passions, whether it be hiking, painting, horseback riding, or simply reconnecting with old friends.

The minimum age requirement is 18 and over. The camp is designed for all ages; however, we are catering to working professionals in the 25-55 demographic. Singles, couples, partners, college students, family members, circus artists, real estate agents, web developers, cruise ship performers, anyone who wants to disconnect.
The camp will be held at beautiful Camp Daisy and Harry Stein (formerly Camp Pearlstein) in Prescott, Arizona.
