Gila River Gaming Job Fair

Friday, June 30th from 8 a.m. until noon Gila River Hotels & Casinos will be hosting a job fair in efforts hire more than 60 new full- and part-time team members for the three Gila River properties including Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino, Lone Butte Casino and Vee Quiva Hotel & Casino.

Positions include:

  • Bingo Clerk
  • Cage Technician
  • EVS Attendant
  • Players Club Rep
  • Room Attendant
  • Cage Cashier
  • Drop Count Team Member
  • EVS Carpet & Hard Floor Tech
  • Maintenance Mechanic I
  • Security Officers

All applicants must be 18 years or older, pass a physical and drug test, have the ability to lift more than 50 pounds

There are suitability standards that all applicants must meet in order to obtain employment with Gila River Gaming Enterprises, Inc. -- Applicants who have felonies, warrants, outstanding tickets, shoplifting or theft conviction will not be eligible for employment.

Cave Creek Fireworks

Businesses in Cave Creek are hosting 2 large fireworks events: The Fourth on the First Fireworks on Saturday, July 1 at Frontier Town and the 3rd of July Fireworks Extravaganza on Monday, July 3, a large party hosted by Harold's Corral, The Buffalo Chip and Roadhouse.

You don't have to wait until the 4th to catch fireworks! The "Fourth on the First" will take place at Frontier Town on Saturday, July 1st. The free family-friendly event begins at 4 p.m. and features live music, a kid's splash area, mechanical bull riding, delicious food and beverages and shopping throughout the Western-themed town in the heart of Cave Creek. The fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m.

Celebrate Independence Day on the "3rd of July" 

The "3rd of July Fireworks Extravaganza" is sponsored by Harold's Corral, The Buffalo Chip Saloon and Roadhouse in Cave Creek. It will start at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 3. The celebration before the fireworks will include live music, kid's activities and food and drink specials at all three restaurants. Admission is free and a free shuttle service will be available to transport people around town from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Phoenix Mercury celebrate the G.O.A.T.

In celebration of three-time WNBA Champion, four-time Olympic gold medalist and five-time WNBA scoring champion Diana Taurasi surpassing Tina Thompson as the WNBA's all-time leading scorer earlier this month, the Phoenix Mercury will host Taurasi Night brought to you by State Farm during the team's matchup with the Minnesota Lynx tonight (June 30) at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

The contest will serve as a game-long celebration of the WNBA's new all-time leading scorer, featuring a number of special video tributes and vignettes in-arena during the game to celebrate Taurasi's legacy and contributions to the Mercury throughout her 13-season tenure with the organization. Additionally, the team will unveil an exclusive banner at Talking Stick Resort Arena to memorialize Taurasi's historic accomplishment.

  • To honor her place as the Greatest of all Time, or the G.O.A.T., we'll have a petting zoo featuring live goats set up in the courtyard on the court level
  • Additionally, the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive this commemorative Diana Taurasi bobblehead, courtesy of State Farm
  • As part of Taurasi Night, the Mercury Team Shop will offer a variety of exclusive merchandise to commemorate her remarkable achievement.

Test Your Bag-Tossing Skills in Peoria's Cornhole Tournament

Toss your way to cash prizes and compete in the 5th Annual Cornhole Tournament, enjoy entertainment and stay for the fireworks. Peoria is holding the tournament during the July 4 All-American Festival at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave.

Cornhole (also known as dummy boards, bean bag toss, dadhole, doghouse, Baggo or bags) is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn (or bean bags) at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches or exceeds a score of 21.

This tournament is for teams of two and players must be age 21 or older. The tournament begins 5:30 p.m. Check In begins at 5 p.m. with the first bag tossed at 5:30 p.m. The team registration fee is $25, and the registration deadline is Friday, June 30. Early registration is required by visiting or calling 623-773-7137.

Tournament registrants will also need to pay the All-American Festival admission price to enter the stadium. Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission at the door is $10 for ages 13 and older, ages 12 and under are free. Presale tickets, available through June 29, are only $7. Parking is free.
