A suspect who allegedly fired shots at a DPS trooper's car in early March pleaded not guilty Thursday.
The shooting happened around 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 2. Police arrested 29-year-old Luis Felipe Aldana near I-17 and Dove Valley, just hours after the alleged crime.

The incident started as a routine traffic stop, but took a darker turn when the state trooper noticed the heavily-tinted nature of the car's windows.
"During that point when our trooper was considering making contact with the occupant, our suspect, as it turned out, is when he had to return fire," said Raul Garcia with DPS.
Police believe the suspect fired first, hitting the patrol car.
"The suspect fired first, and the trooper returned fire," said Officer Jaret Redfearn with the Avondale Police Department.
The trooper was not hurt.
The suspect reportedly had a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Aldana is due back in court May 4.
