A 16-year-old boy was treated by Mesa Fire & Medical Dept. personnel after being hit by a vehicle in front of Dobson High School.
It happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Mesa police said the teen was riding his bicycle when he was hit.
"We found a 16-year-old student from Dobson High School that had some head injuries and some scrapes and bruises to the body," said Efren Carmona with the Mesa Police Dept. "The bicyclist was headed westbound on Guadalupe as well as the vehicle. The bicyclist for unknown reasons at this time crossed the street outside of the crosswalk. The vehicle did strike the bicyclist. The bicyclist ended up on the windshield for a short period of time and then was thrown from the vehicle."
Sgt. Carmona said impairment is not a factor.
The driver of the vehicle did stop to help and called the police.
Initial reports are the boy is in stable condition at a hospital, according to Deputy Chief Forrest Smith with the Mesa Fire & Medical Dept.
The female driver who hit the bicyclist was not a student at Dobson High School.
