Five people were taken to the hospital, including 17-year-old Hailey Newtown who later died. Three other people received treatment for injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

The driver kept going and hit a northbound minivan that had eight people inside, police said. A 2-year-old suffered significant but not serious injuries.

The 23-year-old also hit a Toyota Tundra pickup truck. A Subaru was hit by debris. They were not hot.

The man is in the hospital with significant but not serious injuries.

Investigators are looking into whether impairment was a factor.

One witness said she believes two drivers started the chain-reaction crashes and that it had to do with road rage.
