Gilbert Costco now 'safe to occupy' after evacuation due to freon leak

GILBERT, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A Gilbert-area Costco store was evacuated Tuesday morning after a freon leak. But fire officials now say the store is "safe to occupy."

The store is located at 2800 S. Market Street in Gilbert, near Pecos and Val Vista.

One person was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Emergency crews from Gilbert, Mesa and Chandler all responded to the scene.

The leak was secured just before 11 a.m. Hazardous materials teams remained at the scene to monitor the conditions inside the building.
