PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake said Monday that he will give his constituents what they've been demanding -- a town hall meeting.

Over the past couple of months, demonstrators have gathered outside his office and near his home calling for a meeting with the Republican lawmaker.

Flake said he wasn't avoiding them, just that he's had a packed schedule in Washington and didn't have the time.

Across the country, there have been rowdy town hall events as Democrats vent their frustration over the new GOP administration.

Flake says he's ready to take the heat, that it's part of being a politician.

"You just take it as it comes. It comes with the territory. If you want to be a politician you're going to have to subject yourself," Flake said. "I look forward to debating the issues. These are people that have real concerns about the Affordable Care Act or other things so they deserve to have meetings with their representatives and we'll have them."
