PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Rescue teams used a helicopter to pluck an injured hiker from the side of Camelback Mountain Saturday afternoon.

Phoenix Fire Department spokeswoman Captain Reda Bigler said a 19-year-old woman fell and injured her back near the top of the trail.

She was unable to move after her injuries, explained Bigler.

Crews on scene felt the best way to get her down was to use a helicopter to hoist her to a safe landing zone at the base of the mountain.

After she was back on the ground, she was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

If you are going out for a hike, make sure you are properly prepared and take plenty of water.

Enjoy Arizona, but be prepared for your outdoor adventure!
