From the "Vampire Facial" to the "Slush Facial," it seems like there are new beauty trends popping up every day. You've probably noticed them, especially if you are on social media.

Elli Edgar has been in the beauty industry for more than 25 years. Her specialty at her Painted Ladies salon is permanent makeup.

The latest freak-out is over freckles.

"Freckles is [sic] a wonderful thing they are doing now," Edgar said.

"Women love new trends. Women love different things," she said. "We do a classic look. I want my clients to love me in 10 years. I don't want them to regret what they do."

Before she does any procedure, she makes sure the client knows what she getting into, even with freckles.

"We really go through a lot of questioning to make sure my younger gals want what they are gonna get," she said. "It's permanent!"

Not too long ago I'm sure you knew someone who wished they didn't have freckles

So why are they a thing now?

"I think because it's cute," Edgar said. "I think there is a cuteness about it. The freckles make that younger cute look."

But she has seen some bad freckle work -- definitely not cute.

"I don't wanna get on my soap box, but you can take a YouTube video and figure out how to do them, but anyone who does permanent [makesup] needs to know how to tattoo," she said. "They need to work on people. In the state of Arizona there is no certification process."
