Forget downward dog. Today it was all about "downward goat" at the Phoenix Zoo.
"Goat yoga" was just one of the activities held at the Zoo Move & Groove Fitness Festival at the Phoenix Zoo Saturday.
The event was designed as a way to help folks get healthy and fit with an animal twist!
More than 6,000 zoo guests enjoyed goat yoga, Pound fitness, an obstacle course, hip hop classes, belly dancing, and "animal-robics."
Visitors also got to watch goats run an agility course.
The morning kicked off with nearly 1,000 runners and walkers participating in a 5K trail run or leisure loop through Papago Park and festivities carried over to the Zoo for a full day of fun and fitness.
Now, "goat yoga" might sound strange. But it's a new fitness trend that's been catching on around the world and has recently been showing up around the Valley.
The added health benefits of having a goat around while you’re working out are unknown, but there’s no denying it’s darn cute.
Want to try it for yourself? You only have to go as far as the east Valley.
