Armed robbery suspect caught on camera at Mexican restaurant

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Police are looking for an armed robbery suspect caught on camera at Armando's Mexican Food Restaurant in Phoenix.

Investigators say the suspect tried to rob an employee there on Friday, March 3rd at approximately 9:20pm while going through the drive-thru.

When the employee refused to hand over any cash, the suspect walked into the restaurant, racked the slide of his gun and jumped the counter while continuing his demands for money.

Surveillance video shows the man grabbing the entire cash register and leaving the restaurant with it.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic Male, 5'10", 160 lbs., wearing a long-sleeve shirt with denim pants and a black ski cap.

He left the scene in a black Nissan Altima.

There was about $120 in the cash register.
