QUEEN CREEK, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A Gila River Police SUV was involved in a crash on Friday morning.

It happened on Riggs Road, east of Power Road.

One person was transported with injuries but it was not the officer, according to Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

"The officer was traveling east on Riggs Road when he collided with a vehicle that was turning left near Power Road," Sgt. Enriquez said in an email. "MCSO traffic investigators are en-route to investigate but the injuries have been determined non-life-threatening."

Traffic Investigators are responding because that is standard procedure when there is a government vehicle involved in a crash.

"There are no details as to speed, cause or traffic infractions by either driver at this time, said Sgt. Enriquez. "This accident will be under investigation until the traffic detectives conclude their investigation. The road will be restricted for a couple of hours until we conclude our investigation."
