PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Light riders can expect to see beefed up security at some light rail stations in the Valley.

Four off-duty Phoenix police officers will be added to the team of 16 already assigned.

The focus will be really the 19th Avenue Corridor where the City and police want to beef up their presence in the area, letting folks know they're around.

From December to February, police ran a pilot program increasing security.

Police said during that time, they made around 149 arrests.

The transportation 2050 funds will help pay for the extra officers.

Public transit is also working on an app where you can take a picture of a criminal or report a crime immediately via text.
