PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A large home in north Scottsdale went up in flames Thursday morning.

The first-alarm fire broke out just before 3 a.m. near Happy Valley and Alma School Road.

It took dozens of firefighters to douse the flames at the approximately 8,000-square-foot home.

Fire crews also say the blaze generated a huge amount of smoke. Through the haze, you could see firefighters chopping holes into the roof to create vents to release some of that smoke.

Luckily, no one was injured in the fire. The couple who lives there was able to make it out even before crews arrived.

Scottsdale firefighters say they were fortunate that a fire hydrant was located right next to the home.

The house suffered major smoke damage.

There's no word on a cause.
