Valley boy comforted by doll with prosthetic leg

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A Valley boy received a special gift as he learns how to walk again using a prosthetic leg.

Josaiah lost his leg in 2015 after he fell and hurt himself playing with a dog in 2015, according to his mother.

The 4-year-old boy's leg had to be amputated.

Josaiah has been practicing with a temporary prosthetic, and learning to walk again has been a challenge he’s embraced, according to his mother, Michelle Arias.

Now he has something to comfort him through this new chapter in his life.

The boy’s mother said a friend of a friend heard about Josaiah’s journey through Facebook and gifted the boy a special doll that has its own prosthetic leg.

Josaiah’s mother videotaped the little boy unwrapping the doll.  The woman who gave Josaiah the doll says she's not looking for recognition, rather she wanted to do something for the boy who has been through so much.

Josaiah will receive his new prosthetic next week.
