Fire in Phoenix apartment displaces residents

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Residents of a three-story apartment are displaced after a late night fire in Phoenix.

It started around 9:30 p.m. near 27th and Northern Avenues on Tuesday night.

Phoenix Fire says the fire started in an apartment on the second floor.

When firefighters arrived they encountered heavy smoke but were able to stop the spread of the fire to additional apartments.

Two surrounding apartments were damaged by heavy smoke.

Fire investigators are not sure what caused the fire.

No injuries were reported.
