TEMPE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

An Arizona State University rugby player has been arrested after he kicked another player during a rugby match last month.

ASU spokeswoman, Katy Harris, said Christopher Crawford kicked a University of Arizona player in the face during a match on Feb. 25 in Tempe.

The assault happened as the U of A player was tying his shoelace, said Harris.

The player required surgery after suffering facial fractures.
