PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Firefighters from Phoenix and Mesa worked together to rescue a hiker at Papago Park.

It happened on Monday morning.

A 61-year-old woman ended up in a precarious position on a very steep part of the Papago Buttes, according to Capt. Rob McDade with the Phoenix Fire Dept.

She could not get up or down on her own.

Rescuers quickly climbed up to her and used ropes to lower her down to a more secure part of the mountain.

From there, she was able to walk to safety.
