A 6-year-old boy was pulled from a pool at a Scottsdale apartment complex Saturday morning, Officer Kevin Watts said.
The youngster had been swimming with family and friends when at some point he was found unconscious underwater, Watts said.
When paramedics and police arrived near Scottsdale Road and Thompson Peak Parkway, the youngster was "responsive but lethargic," fire authorities said.
CPR was performed and the boy was rushed to a local hospital.
Scottsdale police officers launched an investigation.
