Phoenix police have identified the man killed by police on Thursday after he allegedly pointed his gun at an officer during an encounter at an apartment complex.
The shooting happened near 24th Street and Van Buren Street at the Sky Harbor Inn apartments.
Police say 27-year-old Michael Cisneros was wanted for a probation violation, and that he pointed a pistol at an officer who was trying to detain him.
Later, it was discovered that his "weapon" was actually a replica.
According to police, Cisneros had fled when police contacted him but he was surrounded by the time he pulled the gun on the officer.
