D-backs' Race Against Cancer event hits close to home

D-backs CEO Derrick Hall tells us about the 5th annual 5K/1 mile walk through downtown Phoenix on April 9th. Hall is a cancer survivor himself and his wife is currently going through treatment.

The 5K will begin at 7:15 a.m. and the 1-Mile Banana Boat Family Fun Walk will start at 8:30 a.m. at Chase Field. Each participant will receive an exclusive D-backs racing shirt, unique finisher medal courtesy of Safelite AutoGlass, D-backs drawstring bag and a ticket to a D-backs game. Participants are encouraged to register early to take advantage of the $40 early registration for the 5K and $20 for the 1-Mile. Early registration ends on March 31, after which registration will be $50 for the 5K and $30 for the 1-Mile. Registration for children 12 and under to participate in the 1-Mile Banana Boat Family Fun Walk is only $5.

One-of-a-kind garage sale hosted by Cubs' wives
The Cubs Wives will be hosting the Cubs Charities' annual garage sale during Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. They will be selling game-used uniforms, bats, locker tags, autograph baseballs and more. Proceeds raised during the event will benefit the Paz De Cristo Outreach Center in Mesa, whose mission it is to feed, clothe and empower those in need in the East Valley of the Phoenix area. Fans need a game ticket to get in.

The Right Field Pavilion at the Goodyear Ballpark Spring Training home of the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds, received a complete makeover during the offseason including a new bar with eight tap handles, new lounge furniture and 9 televisions.

Spring Training is in full swing around the Valley. Surprise Stadium is Spring Training home of the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals is celebrating 15 years of Spring training.  Here is what's new at the ballpark this year!
