(3 ON YOUR SIDE) -

3 On Your Side was happy to help a Sun City homeowner by the name of Elizabeth Hendricks.

When her dishwasher broke down, her son Lloyd Church went on to Craigslist and found a handyman named Frank Fritz, who claimed to be an appliance repairman.

But Church says when he gave Frank Fritz two hundred dollars to purchase a part for the broken appliance, Fritz kept the money and never returned.

"I just feel like he thought I was an older lady and he thought he would rip me off and leave," Hendricks said.

As for her son, he said he’d done everything to try and contact Frtiz.

"I don't know where this guy is,” Church said. If I could find him, I would.”

So, 3 On Your Side got involved and we found him. It's the second time in the last few years that we've confronted him for taking money and not returning.

HARPER: “You and I talked a couple of years ago about taking money from people for parts and then you don't show back up.”

FRITZ: “That's not true.”

HARPER: “Yes, it is true. Well, how about this lady right here. Elizabeth Hendricks?”

FRITZ: “Who's that?”

HARPER: “Well, you should know because you cashed her check.”

Fritz's memory finally clears up and agrees to return half of the money he took from Hendricks. He claimed he should keep the other half because he made a service call to Hendricks’ home.

3 On Your Side agreed to accept the money because there was no guarantee we would find him again. We immediately returned the hundred dollars to Hendricks and her son.

“Without you guys, I wouldn't have gotten a penny,” Hendricks said. “So, a hundred dollars beats a penny any day. I think you guys are great."

3 On Your Side also helped Vicky Jerdee. She spent $1,300 for skin care products from a kiosk found in a Valley Mall.

But even though the business displays a full-refund sign within 30 days, Jerdee said they wouldn't return her money.

So, 3 On Your Side got involved and went to the mall with Jerdee. The cosmetics employees wanted nothing to do with us.  When we walked up to kiosk, we spoke to the salesman who sold the $1,300 in merchandise to Jerdee.

“First of all stop, okay?” the salesman said. “Because I’m going to complain on you to the police.”

Mall security and Corporate mall officials got involved and that's when the cosmetic distributor at the kiosk changed his tune and finally returned Jerdee’s $1,300 right in front of 3 On Your Side.

Jerdee says it's something they should have done from the very beginning.

And finally, we helped Joanne Halsey and her husband Gary, who has a serious health condition.

After racking up $120,000 in medical bills, the couple was forced to take out a $2,000 loan with a 209% rate just to get by, but it was a loan Joanne and her husband couldn't seem to pay off.

However, a 3 On Your Side viewer who saw their story did pay it off.  That viewer gave us check for around $2,000 to hand off to Joanne and Gary so they could pay off their loan in full.

We gave them the check outside their Tempe apartment complex.

"After the story aired there was a gentleman and his wife in Prescott Valley who really felt bad for you guys and he wanted me to give you this check for $2,038.49,” Harper said.

“No! Oh no I can't take this,” Joanne said sobbing.

The couple used the check to pay off the loan and 3 On Your Side also persuaded the loan company to waive the whopping $6,000 in interest that initially came with the loan. Thank you so much,” Joanne said to us. “They don't call it 3 On Your Side for nothing.”

When you add up all the money 3 On Your Side was able to recoup for our viewers, it amounts to $10,405.  And for the year so far, the total comes to $14,183.
