CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Chandler police have made an arrest in the murder of an elderly man outside an LA Fitness.

The suspect is 24-year-old Freddis Williams III of Phoenix.

Williams was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.

His bond was set at $200,000.

Shivaswamy Hosakote, 84, was found deceased inside his vehicle in the parking lot of the LA Fitness located at 2100 North Dobson Road on August 18, 2016.

Investigators learned Shivaswamy had sustained multiple stab wounds.

When police responded to the initial crime scene, they processed the victim's vehicle for fingerprints. according to court documents, a print was found on the car that police say belonged to Williams.

Williams had initially denied any involvement in the killing, but "he could not provide an explanation as to why his latent print was on the vehicle," according to the report.

Police say at one point during his interview with detectives, Williams actually ran from the police station, "which seemed unusual."

Search warrants were then obtained for Williams' phone, home and car.

Police found notes and diaries that indicated "Williams was going through personal issues involving drugs and his relationship with his wife. it
is believed that these writings were motivation for the murder that was committed," according to court documents.

When investigators examined Williams' cell phone, they found data from two separate days had been deleted. Police say it appears "Williams was trying to hide something from these two days."

Later, police say Williams' DNA was found on the interior of the driver's door.

"With this new information, there was now additional evidence to reinforce the exterior print in this case, and show that this prior
print was not just accidental and Williams was actually inside the victim's vehicle," states the court documents.
